What does the EPA say about KDF?
The August, 1992 decision by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to grant KDF® media approval as a "pesticidal device" confirmed the patented media's ability to control bacteria through the natural process of electrochemical oxidation/reduction. KDF has even been granted EPA Establishment No. 067490 for bacteria control.
UltraSource water treatment systems have been tested by Terralab Engineers and Biological Solutions, both Certified Laboratories, as well as other scientific water quality labs. Terralab Engineers determined the efficacy of the units in removing toxic heavy metals and many toxic organic compounds for 10,000 to 20,000 gallons of municipal water, depending on the unit. Tests by Biological Research Solution's, Dr. John Wireman PhD, Microbiologist, demonstrated the ability of KDF-55 to kill bacteria, including Pseudomonas fluroescens, Ybrio cholera, Legionella pneumophilia (Philadelphia #1), coliforms and other microorganisms.
The ability of UltraSource water treatment systems to all but totally remove lead was determined by sensitive scientific equipment at Enviro-Test/Perry Laboratories, an EPA-approved lab. Specifically, the units reduced the lead levels in the Kluycznski Federal Building in Chicago to below detection levels (5ppb). A detailed report is available upon request.
