KDF vs. Scale
Water filtered through KDF-55 redox alloy prevents the formation and accumulation of mineral hardness scale, primarily limestone (calcium carbonate and calcite). Extensive electron microscopy and X-ray crystallography studies demonstrate that hardness scale from untreated water is formed by relatively large and irregularly shaped acicular crystals of calcium and magnesium mineral salts. These "Velcro- like" salts form a hard, insoluble and interlocking network of vitreous limestone shale. Water filtered with KDF-55 redox alloy medium radically alters the morphology of the insoluble calcium/magnesium carbonates and barium sulfate crystals to relatively small, evenly shaped rounded grains and rods that form an unconsolidated powdery compound that refuses to adhere to metallic surfaces.
KDF-55 media meets all FDA and EPA codes, as well as all requirements of the Drinking Water Act, PL-99-339, of June 19, 1986. KDF media is recyclable, meeting the demands of today's environmentally concerned end-users. You can now understand why KDF media is great news for everyone concerned with clean, safe, healthy drinking and bath water, and why KDF media is called "today's precious metal for water purification."
